There are four general areas of life, that in our estimation, every person must focus on in order to reach optimal health and balance. They act as a map to enable us to understand ourselves, our lives, and our relationships. At MSP we are dedicated to ensuring that our Talmidim are cared for and all their needs are met. MSP offers a variety of classes, programs, and opportunities that are all meticulously designed to teach lessons, training and application of the following Yesodos.

1

Mental

Wisdom consists of three facets: acquisition, application, and creativity. As Jewish people, we always prioritize acquiring Torah learning as the main source of wisdom. Too often, wisdom remains in the realm of the mind, never making its impact on the patterns of our daily lives. The final aspect of wisdom is creativity, which is using our gifts to develop new understandings of the world.

Shiurim and classes are divided into instructional and educational. All educational classes meet state-mandated tests and requirements. All instructional classes offer a more apprenticeship style of learning.

Unleashing Mind Power In this class, the Talmidim will learn the amazing power of neuroplasticity and bring on greatness. This learning course is designed to develop positive thinking skills and self mastery.

There is nothing more empowering than experiencing change taking place within yourself.

2

Physical

Nutrition & Health In this daily class the Talmid will learn the secrets of healthy living and self care, and the importance of how to eat, drink, and sleep with the proper skill set. The class will include the application of a physical workout with a personal trainer. Breakfast is provided daily. All lunches and dinners will be coming from local restaurants and will be made available for an additional fee.

Financial Health This class is based on an innovative and exciting curriculum from Mesila, the world renowned organization, that has educated and inspired hundreds of the need to build healthy fiscal habits at a young age. Every Talmid will bring in canteen money at the beginning of the year which will be placed in an “account”. He will be taught to balance this account and use the funds to purchase all snacks and other items that we anticipate he may need at a student run canteen. The canteen will operate under the direction of a nutritional expert and will offer healthy foods such as salads, soups, and fruit shakes, with an occasional fried food day. All monies and profits from this canteen will be spent by the student committee for extra curricular activities.

Facilities Our well equipped and beautiful facilities include a Bais Medrash, dining Hall, student lounge, and a student conference room. Our classrooms are state-of-the art and our laboratory is equipped with workstations and all state required utilities. We have designated rooms for the basics of musical production and for physical workout. We have applied and received BOCES state funded services to benefit our boys as well as an appointed nurses’ office and a School nurse.

There is no limit to how far you can go by fulfilling your mission in this world.

3

Emotional

Relationships Relationships with both Rebbeim, teachers, and most importantly friends, is the prime arena to develop our powers of giving, receiving, and communication.

Emotional Intelligence The Talmidim will learn how to identify and validate hisemotions and feelings together with his peers. Active listening and other important skills of communication will be taught.

Group relationship skills, workshops, and activities will be under professional direction of the Shalom Task Force organization.

Student Council Each Talmid will vote and partake in a student council. This department will be run by Mr. Frishman and will empower the Talmidim to manage the student office, canteen, and funds. The Talmidim will be broken up into committees (Chessed, Minyan, student productions, Yearbook…) and learn to cooperate as a community. On a monthly basis, the yeshiva will go on Chessed trips such as volunteering for Chasdei Lev, Tomchei Shabbos, visiting the elderly at nursing homes and hospitals.

4

Guidance

Having a mentor or guide is essential for finding our general direction in life, for emotional issues, spiritual matters, and halacha, as well as for when one is learning or seeking to pursue a specific goal.

Our Rosh Mesivta Rabbi Elly Merenstein is the heart and soul of MSP. His passion and devotion to the Yeshiva is legendary. His ability to relate and connect to each Talmid in and out of Yeshiva is one that lasts long after graduation. After many years of being involved with teens, Rabbi Merenstein carries an awareness into the unique challenges of todays’ generation.

Our Mashgiach Rabbi Moshe Don Kestenbaum is our beloved Mashgiach who takes the time to speak with each and every Talmid. He is always available to take calls from parents and talmidim alike. His popular weekly column in the English Yated Ne’eman and his world acclaimed Seforim on The Heart of Parenting, Run after (the right) Kavod, Olam Hamiddos, and Olam Ha’avodah have impacted and inspired thousands.

Our General Studies Principal Mr. Simcha Frishman is gifted with the ability to connect with students on an academic and personal level. He is a no-nonsense principal yet with warmth and an intuitive sensitivity for each Talmid. Mr. Frishman has a Masters in General and Special Education and over 20 years of experience as a teacher and administrator. He has experience in Physical Education, Health Education, Public Speaking, English, Personal Training and Lab Science.

Our Rebbeim Our faculty is lucky enough to have an all-star team of talented Rebbeim who are loved by their Talmidim. With their broad knowledge and non-judgmental approach, our dedicated Rebbeim reveal the excitement, depth, and beauty of Torah and Yiddishkeit.

Our Teachers MSP teachers are warm, accessible, enthusiastic, and caring. Our teachers are masters of their subject matter and are known to stay after school and make themselves available to students and parents who need them. They are involved in school-wide committees and activities, and they demonstrate a strong commitment to the school.

Support Aside from our Rebbeim and Teachers, we provide the boys with various mentors who meet with all Talmidim on a rotational basis. We offer state-funded educational mandates and services which is headed by a BOCES provided school psychologist.

Eretz Yisrael/College Guidance Mr. Frishman will meet with each student and his parents to discuss and plan for his career aspirations, set goals for college acceptance, and discuss the securing of scholarships and other financial assistance opportunities. Before starting college we encourage our graduates to choose to attend a Yeshiva in Eretz Yisrael for one or more years in order to more fully round out their Torah education. During the course of the year, we will work closely with the various Yeshivos in Eretz Yisrael to evaluate their suitability for our talmidim. We will work tirelessly until we know that all of our Talmidim are set for their post graduation year.
